Senior Structural Design Engineer (Construction Engineering)

Our Melbourne Construction team provides specialist construction engineering services to the biggest contractors on some of Melbourne’s most significant building and major transport infrastructure projects. In tune with RBG’s overarching strategic objectives this team has successfully delivered proven “design for delivery” results, providing quality controlled structural solutions to complex construction challenges. Our business continues to grow and as a result we have an exciting career opportunity for a construction Design Engineer to join our team in Melbourne (Collins Square).

· creative problem solving, complex structural analysis

· complex structure erection and high-rise building design

· construction methodologies & technologies

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

• Detailed structural design of both permanent and complex temporary works and their associated impacts on permanent structures
• Assist in the development of construction methodology and erection sequence for structures
• Client liaison, in conjunction with Project Directors and Associates, regarding current and future projects
• Training and coordination of staff under your direction
• Active involvement in all your projects, including project resource management, in conjunction with the Project Directors
• Promotion of Robert Bird Group to existing and prospective clients

The successful applicant will have:

• A desire to work in a core structural engineering field performing complex structural engineering design tasks
• Ability to use basic theoretical knowledge of engineering principles to analyse, interpret and infer on project tasks
• Proven technical capacity and a minimum of 3 years’ structural engineering experience
• Experience in the delivery of detailed engineering drawings corresponding with level of duties
• Previous experience with the Australian Building Industry
• Solid grounding in steel and concrete design
• Understanding of the construction/building industry
• Proven record of working independently and being self-motivated
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Experience in the delivery of major infrastructure designs, and/or temporary works design is preferred, but not required.
• High end computer coding experience is desired, but not required.
