Overview: The Digital Projects Branch is responsible for supporting the build and delivery of numerous IT system projects that support Australian Skills, Training, Apprenticeships, and employers. Our Project Management Office (PMO) ensures a consistent view of each project through governance arrangements, reporting, financial, and contract management.
Role: As a Project Management Officer, you will help implement and drive a high-quality operating environment for project management to deliver continuous improvement for IT projects allocated to the Digital Projects Branch. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary PMO, servicing IT projects developed under our agile project management methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Product Manager and Assistant Director by actively contributing to program and project delivery, including day-to-day oversight of key outcomes and administrative management.
- Prepare high-quality and timely papers and reports for Senior Executives, Boards & Committees, and Ministerial briefs on the status, risks & issues, schedule, and progress of program benefits realisation.
- Provide high-quality written and verbal advice to the Product Manager, Senior Executive, and other key stakeholders.
- Participate in team/work stream sprints, risk assessments, scrum meetings, and Program Increment planning workshops.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to support program and project outcomes and activities.
Desirable Experience/Skills:
- Previous experience in project management or advisory roles, preferably within a government or similar environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments, adapting to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks concurrently.
- Strategic, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with proven organisational skills and high attention to detail.
- Experience with government policies and procedures, risk management, IT project benefits, and government record-keeping requirements.
- Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps services, MS Power BI, and QLIK is desirable but not essential.
