Design and Estimating Manager - Sprinkler Systems

Location: NewcastleEmtec Fire Systems are a leading contractor within the fire and security industry specialising in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire protection and security systems. We are seeking a Design and Estimating Manager to bring their expertise to our vibrant team based at our Newcastle Office. Role Overview As Design & Estimating Manager with Emtec Fire Systems you will lead our Sprinkler systems design and estimating function. This is a key role where you can make a real impact and ensure project success through high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management – Lead, mentor, and develop the design and estimating team, ensuring resource allocation and performance align with business goals. Design & Estimating – Oversee detailed sprinkler designs and cost estimates, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards (BS EN, NFPA, LPCB, FM Global). Compliance & Quality Assurance – Maintain robust quality control and stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices. Process Improvement – Drive efficiencies by developing and refining standard operating procedures. Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution. Budget & Cost Control – Manage departmental budgets while identifying cost-saving opportunities. Tendering & Business Development – Support business growth with accurate estimates and technical insights. What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience in sprinkler system design and estimation within the fire protection industry.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software.
• Recognised industry qualifications, including FHC / LPCB certification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
• A proactive and results-oriented mindset.

Desirable Qualifications

• Recognised qualifications in fire protection engineering or related fields.
• Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes.
