The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state. The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability. Purpose of role Enterprise IT Solutions and Services is responsible for the management and delivery of QFD Information and Communication Technology (ICT) enterprise business systems, business platforms, data and integration systems, and information management to ensure they are designed as per the Enterprise Architecture guiding principles. The Corporate and HR Platforms team contributes to the development and management of technological solutions and initiatives that help solve and ICT business problems, including governance for ICT projects, programs and strategies. The team provides system management and oversight of the human capital management and enterprise solutions and services, and assets and platforms that ensures QFD systems solutions and platforms are designed and managed to meet our IT vision and strategy. Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will lead and manage large scale or multiple complex projects, and coordinate external suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver on various project outcomes. This includes all aspects of the project lifecycle from initiation through to client acceptance and vendor management, ensuring benefits realisation. You will leverage strong Agile and Human Centered design skills to drive effective collaboration across internal IT Directorate resources, and relevant business stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects, and achieve required organisational outcomes. Key requirements Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience in a large scale, complex ICT project environment, including planning, risk management, procurement, budgeting and project closure, Project Management experience preferably within a government organisation.
  • Prince2 Agile certification or equivalent / Project Management Professional (PMP) equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Queensland Government Procurement Policies and Procedures.
  • Experience of Microsoft Project, Microsoft 365 or other project management software.
  • Awareness and experience with Agile practices and Human Centered Design ways in working.

Your key accountabilities Responsibilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee large scale or multiple complex projects, and develop project scope, cost estimates, human and physical resources associated with the delivery of projects with high standards of professionalism and ethics. This includes:
  • Managing the project budget and finances.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Managing project resource allocations.
  • Producing the required project documentation in accordance with the QFD IT Directorate (ITD) framework.
  • Ensuring appropriate project governance and assurance activities are in place for the project.
  • Ensuring project administration activities are undertaken in accordance with internal governance and compliance practices.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of project activities, identifying interdependencies and leveraging resources to maximise efficiencies and deliver the required outcome within the project budget, scope and timeframes.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks, issues, conflicts, change requests and priorities associated with your projects and providing regular and accurate reporting to stakeholders, ITD management, project and program boards in relation to the status of these risks.
  • Develop and implement communication plans, organisational change management plans and benefit realisation plans to ensure quality project outcomes are delivered within define timelines.
  • Enable informed decision making on project issues by developing timely and relevant written submissions, briefs, presentations and information papers for project stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and suppliers to facilitate communications, and provide advice and guidance on specific issues and activities throughout the project lifecycle or projects assigned in areas of responsibility.
  • Implement approved project management methodologies and provide feedback on the appropriateness of those methodologies to monitor and report on project related trends and performance against project plans and budgets.
  • Analyse, plan and manage specialised work packages involving ICT infrastructure or software installations, ensuring that a holistic view of requirements and solutions delivered are responsive to customer needs and sustainable in the delivery of the project.
